Play On Shakespeare!
In a remarkable two-day shoot at a Los Angeles studio, these filmed monologue demonstrations highlight the magic of Shakespeare’s language in a whole new light. Under the guidance of producer and director Kamilah Long, each scene unfolds with the expertise of Play On Shakespeare Founder Lue Douthit, alongside acclaimed actors Wayne T. Carr, Lisa Wolpe, Rodney Gardiner, and Amy Kim Waschke. Completing the creative team is celebrated Costume Designer Carlton Jones, whose designs enhance the immersive experience of the performances.
These demos vividly illustrate the profound impact of hearing Shakespeare’s original text side by side with modern translations, a feature that has proven overwhelmingly positive for audiences, artists, and educators. The energy and synergy in the rehearsal studio seamlessly translated to the screen, revealing fresh perspectives on Shakespeare’s timeless works. Whether viewers are seasoned theatregoers, creative practitioners, or dedicated educators, these demonstrations offer an invitation to discover new layers of meaning in the Bard’s plays—and once that discovery is made, there is no doubt they will be ready to Play On.
